What brand of tape measure do you use..?

I am sick of going through tape measures so quickly from them splitting or jamming and even rusting...

How long do your tapes last and what do you think are the better ones.?

keep something like this for measuring up jobs,
day to day i use there value 1,chuck it about every 3 months and replace as it's only about £2

stanley fat max one for me, I've got a 5 and 8 metre models, nice bright tape rule with a wide tape section, typically they'll last 18 months

Ummmm i have a Stanley Fatmax 8m , A Mapei 5m ( 2 of those actually shhhhhh:drool5, i have a Ryobi, A Mandarin Stone 5m, Fisco 3m various cheap makes too, Dewalt, oh i dunno i got loads :smilewinkgrin:

Pretty much all the same, i have had expensive ones that lasted no longer than some of the cheap ones and had cheap ones that lasted no more than a day.

I think this one would suit you dave

Fat max is my prefered one, but normally have 5 or 6 knocking about, all sorts of brands

no probs with rusting Dave and spring return is fine, I can get my tape out 4 meters ( off the ground) horizontally before it buckles under the strain

not waterproof :lol: but don't rust spring returns ok! The best for me!:8:

Fat Max has been fine but i tend to keep that for when i quote and use the others when tiling.
