Guys if u want to improving your measuring accuracy use a steel ruler, ive got a 30 and a 40 cm.
hardley ever use the tape its mostly for setting out.

Also much quicker if u scribe and cut as well

Steel rulers dont wear out either.

I use steel rulers too when cutting and marking tiles ,I have a steel metre ruler as use this whenever i do large format and diagonal also have a 600mm sliding square which also comes in very handy at times ,for setting out I was given a schluter 5m tape measure by a supplier and have a cheap 8m tape measure for the large rooms

yep my steel rulers are only for large format, and diag's everything else is scribed.

it was about 10 years ago i brought my last tape measure, recon il get another ten out of em :8:

try screwfix, they do a tape measure by Forge Steel, it costs about £3-4 for the 5m, i've been using mine for over 2 yrs now, and its still as good as new, maybe a bit grotty looking from constant use, but hasn't split or anything.

stanley and fisco tape measures for me, had them years now both very durable..
also use steel rulers too for accuracy.....i did buy a leica disto d2 laser measure last year. swiss made and extremely accurate over large areas for setting out. it was the worlds smallest measure last year and it was a luxury buy/toy ;0) but i am really happy with it and it saves alot of time too!

but the one i want and cant find is a metric only tape

I think Rubi tapes are like that... not sure will have to check mine..

Montolit do a metric only tape.

Might go for one myself. Do a bit of work with a joiner who spent a few years on the continent. Says they used to laugh at him when he whipped out his tape with imperial markings on it.

Got various tapes scattered around, but I like to use a metal Engineers style steel rule for for more accurate measuring. Great for marking out sockets, measuring sills etc. Best for measuring behind awkward pipes etc as its totally flat. Oh and they dont break - just need a clean!
