It is my technical opinion that unless there is a very good technical reason why not you should uses gypsum based or at least gypsum compatible adhesive on gypsum based screed. Adhesives based on ordinary Portland cement are not compatible and it does not matter how much primer you pout down this will alwàys present a risk.

There are very few technical reasons why you would not use gypsum adhesive other than perhaps over a liquid damp proof membrane.

One reason i've heard although will admit, not seen first hand, the gypsum addy's can crystalise over time if it comes into intermittent contact with water.

So you've laid a floor with it, used a water resistant grout, you mop it regularly, so it gets wet.....

The two instances i heard of, it failed under and around the grout joints.... also bare in mind, cement based grout in contact with gypsum adhesive? You said yourself the cement and gypsum don't mix.

But i'm not a scientist so on the other hand, the guys who make it must have all the bases covered.

Never once had an issue with supplying acryllic primer with cement adhesive, so for now i'll stick to what i know works.

I totally get what you are saying @Ajax123 I understand and I am pretty sure your knowledge about this subject is superior to mine, I can't say why I am not using a gypsum based adhesive......other than Mapei don't manufacture one and the last time I used a mineral one it has started to fail but that's my own fault for not using Ditra as a fail safe.
So it is as the Mapei spec at the moment
Abraided
Vacuumed
Primed
Primed
Primed again
Keraquick and latex stick Ditra down
Keraquick to stick tiles down
My supplier only stocks Mapei so going elsewhere is not something I want to do if I am being truthful.

@AD Ceramics
I know this is off topic hehe
But how'd you get on with Adesilex P4 Paul?

I've not used it to be honest with you Marc, most of the time when you get a spec from Mapei it's usually keraquick or keraquick and latex for most of the stuff I do anyway, pretty universal product but they don't like it when you tell them you're using Ditra.
I did actually win two bags of the p4 last time Mapei was doing a trade day at my suppliers but never collected it.

The most frustrating thing for me is that mapei do make a gypsum based adhesive they just don't do it in the uk. It might be worth you talking to tilemaster and getting a direct supply???
