Tea Bag's round?

I know plenty of so called time served tilers that know next to nothing about the theory behind tiling. Maybe they knew it once and forgot, or maybe they started when every job was a 6x6 ceramic, and haven't bothered keeping up with the trade. Absolutely no knowledge of different substrates, or weight limits. Refuse to tank anything, and won't be told anything by a "course tiler", because they tile in the real world, and don't get their knowledge from a course and the Internet.... Dullards! lol

As for ash, he's harmless enough. Maybe he should come with a warning label, so people know not to take his advice as gospel, but at least he tries to help.

I don't understand the crap ash gets , he is obviously determined to have a go ,the country would be a better place if more young lads were determined to work instead of make baby's smoke weed and claim benefits .
His tiling seems ok,he will learn more as he goes along, and hopefully get better.
every man and women on here has had to start somewhere and even made mistakes, give the lad a break .

I know some tilers we saw as awesome tilers that haven't had any official training, such as Dave Howe for one.

It's just the way life is in a trade that you don't need to do anything to call yourself a tiler other than tile well.

Products & methods (not just in our trade) are changing all the time so you HAVE to be constantly researching and adapting yourself in order to stay on top of the game.

The problems start when someone thinks they know it all and don't bother learning..... The old 'that's how i have done it for 20 years' attitude is no good...Our products are constantly changing (for the better) and they change in order to suit the change in products in other trades and the moment you think you know it all is when you get left behind.

Throwing gossip about and listening to you lot on here is a very very easy way of keeping ahead of the game, the little tips and swapping of knowledge is invaluable, and it's only those who bother to keep on top of the game who can truly say they are a professional trdesperson...in my opinion anyway :smiley2:

I agree with letting the lad-in , as was said he is trying hard to get going on his own !! he deserves a go, there are some proper lazy-gits out there , i had one jack -on me this week after the first day , apparently the work was to hard for him at 24 years -old so he left me with at 55 to do his work and mine , but i just got-on on my own ,at least ash is trying , and if he was nearer to me i would give him a go.......

Anyone who has stuck the abuse he has and still comes back for more every time deserves entry.

As Peter says, he has put up with some abuse but he still keeps coming back for more,
I understand some that can't be arsed with him & he gives out advice when he knows nothing that he's talking about but I honestly think we should give him a break.
If he was closer to me then I would employ him in a heart beat!!
