he had been tiling for about 10 years so he knows more then me mate lol. I did take some more afterwards but they didn't save on my Phone I will take some more when im up there again.

I dont know what you mean affright... when I tiled a bathroom floor with a tiler he used flexible adhesive and added the additive mate. he said it was not needed but was better to be safe than sorry by using the additive. that is all I know lol... yeh cam I will when I next go up there about 60 miles away so wont be just yet but she wants the hallway doing too. I took loads of pics but for some reason there not on my Phone. I have the basic tools tbh don't have the money for the good stuff biggest tool I have is the £44 dry cutter from b&q and the £33 wet cutter also from b&q lol.

Why add flexi additive to already flexi adhesive its pointless,and if you wanted to be safe then why use 6mm ply.

as I preveiously stated I regretfully used the 6mm ply not knowing you couldn't overboard with it... I don't know the reason he does it but I did it because he done it that's all I know.

As for adding flexi additive to a flexi adhesive...I aint done this so far,But from
the range of products I use there are some benefit's that the Manufacturer lists
as noted in below pic from product.

Hi Ash,

The thing to bear in mind is that as long as all prep work has been carried out correctly,ie Deflection free timber
floors/Boarded etc then spf on it's own is fine.An additive does not resolve any of the issue's that can arise.They may make
products more flexible/waterproof & succeptable to movement however the tiles would still crack with the movement.

yes mate I do understand that it is essential that there is no movement before tiling.... and im no expert at that pmsl. but it cant help just to add the additive to be safe can it. cheers bud

You've not mentioned the products you used, but the picture above is for Tilemaster adhesive. I reckon it'd be daft just to go bunging more additive to any old adhesive. I'd recommend that you keep your learning head on, and if you get any brainy ideas - to check with the relevant technical departments first

In my opinion to much flex in the adhesive is not good ,tiles are not flexible to much flex they would crack,for years I used ardurit s16 which was not flexible not once did I have a failure.

it was in the end bri tbh it was already down when I found out you couldn't overboard with such a thin ply.... but I wont make the same mistake again knowing the price of hardi!

yeh cj regretfully used 6mm ply and screwed down in 20mm centres glued and screwed. also primed chipboard before over boarding and primed ply before tiling mate

On the other topic im pretty sure Weber SPF for example is an S1 adhesive but you can advance the qualities by adding ADH250? Is this not what you'd commonly call a "two part flexible"

by the time I found out you couldn't use the 6mm ply to overdboard it was already down on the chipboard ali sorry if I confused ya mate lol... I used a grey grout from tile choice don't know the name of it SM.

As soon as I seen the patchy grout I suspected you had used gran fix, I'm also sure it's still patchy rather than still drying. Never mind, half decent effort, no job is ever perfect so as long as your aware where you can improve then improve you will.
