did they get in through a side door, or the main up/over door????.. Obviously too late now, but you can make even the cheapest/ flimsy door near on bulletproof( unless they bring an angle grinder !!) with stuff i guarantee is already in your garage.

not very nice soles, but someone will buy the tools at a silly knockdown price, thats why its so common, house insurance should cover you for a garage, but not back of van.

My house contents insurance covered some fishing gear I left in my car overnight so worth a look.

Will find out tomorrow if the house insurers will pay out. After looking at the gaps where tools should have been I estimate around the £2500 mark, they took about 180m of copper tube and even emptied my scrap bin!

i now reverse the van up to the garage door and tight to a side fence, fitted a better door lock and dug a 3 ft deep hole and concreted a retractable post. He this will slow them down in the future?

Police came yesterday, nice chap. Basically said I will never see the items again. Probably sold at a car boot sale on Sunday.
