Got a call early today from a bloke who owns a large building company in the north west, got my number from another builder i do work for.
Basically over the phone had a good chat and he let me know he is not happy with the tiler he has and is replacing him.
Told me today he attended a job his company was doing and was shocked when he did an on site inspection. Wet room and the tiler told the labour lads it just needs boarding out with plasterboard and he will tile over it, sacked him on the spot.
Basically asked will i go down and price for the wet room, it is getting ripped out, if the standard of work is good then all tiling work is mine, fingers crossed because it is a bloody big firm.
Said he was annoyed because there was no reason for the tiler to cut corners in the first place as he is not the one paying, any aqua board etc etc they pay and fit it. Do many prestige properties so fingers crossed this time tomorrow my fingers are deep in the pie :)

Well went down and true to his word met with me on the job, flash get with a Mercedes to die for :)
Shown me the room and it looks spot on, well what is done of it but the problem is the plasterboard. "look mat" banging on the walls getting mad , slush board if a bit of water hits it", basically said it is his name that is linked to the work and doesn't expect to see corners cut no matter what. Told me when a job happens he will have me in to price, tell the site manager exacly what i need material wise and it will be there. Sometimes he may ask me to grab materials but just put it on the price and it is no problem (from what i can work out thats what happened on this one, tiler grabbing plasterboard and probably trying to price him for decent boards). If it is a large job though said he wouldn't even think of asking me to lay out for materials.
Room is getting ripped out tomorrow and he is ordering more tiles, let me know when the tiles are arriving and when the job is good to start, deffo next week though. Got 3 more jobs he wants me to price up for him tomorrow that are more or less ready to go. Seems promising, fingers crossed.
