Hi , I've got a big trav job coming up and could really do with a new wet cutter ,been looking at the rubi's but i'm a bit strapped at the mo. Was wondering if there's any decent ,cheaper ones about that someone could recomend , the rubi cutter is the DW200n bridge cutter. Can anyone help , cheers

I'v got the rubi, and its superb, Topps do a different one for around £200, dont knowhow good it is though

Topps do a bridge cutter for about £200 if your not using it a lot then maybe a choice

my advice is to shop around there some really good bridge cutter out there

yeah seen that one in topps but just keep thinking that rubi is the dogs. Could it be a case of false economy if i go for a cheaper one

just looked on screwfix and they do a canny one for £180 cuts, upto 790mm

I've had a Rubi Bridge DW250 and would have to agree with pjtiler - a very solid piece of kit but I'd question it's accuracy as I find far to much 'bounce / vibration' on the rail and subsequently the blade. You can be accurate but you have to take extreme care especially as you reach the last 30mm of the cut as the vibrations can cause the tile to give. I've seen the cheaper ones in Topps and note their poor build quality in that the frame / casings are made of lighter stuff. Would imagine that they won't take too much hardship loading them in and off the van etc so would guess that you get what you pay for. The Dewalt 24000 is well worth considering as it's in the same price range as the Rubis (£650 ish). Very solid and accurate piece of kit - and superior to the Rubi with more mobility as you strip it down into 3 parts: cutter, tray and stand.

I appreciate you are strapped for cash but try and invest in a decent cutter that will do the job and last longer - it will be cheaper for you in the long run.

its a long story rubi are trying there best but the problems a design fault really

I plumped for a Montolit Brooklyn 920 (from the people at kw*k spl*t).
Last year it cost me £660 inc vat & delivery. Very very pleased with it.
It's no frills, but very powerful and accurate and with none of the vibration problems which seem to trouble rubis.

i have a rodia 207 bridge cutter , superb build quality relatively light (43 kg with the legs) and it cost 750 sheets all in .. dont buy the cheap topps bridge its false economy you would be better renting one till you can afford one , i have also heard about poor build quality in the rubi saws...

i was looking at the one in topps but it would probably be wise to buy one that will cut all size tiles.

Anyone else tried the Norton M108? Very light 22KG The build quality is brilliant! I had one small fault the motor went after a week of cutting 600 x 600 Porcs but Norton shipped me a new motor within 72 hrs from luxembourg and never had a problem since. I cut natural stone inc loads of granite on it and never had a problem. Pretty difficult to get hold of I think but they are around £600 ish
