Its Grout of Order say The Sun newspaper as tile prices look set to rise 70%

So what do you think?

Is the EU right to impose a ban on imports? Are cheap tiles putting Italian jobs at risk?

Has the DIY market suffered?

i'm happy with that then. maybe they can start to get some decent ones now , so i don't have to have 3 sizes of spacers when i do a bathroom with their tiles.

I think this is a move , that has been coming for a while and tariff charges will be about 26% to 73% but these are yet to be confirmed [FONT=&quot]..

I've just laid some cheap imported porcelain from Wickes. Said it was made in Italy. Really bad manufacturing tolerances, so I can only guess it's not just Japan who make the cheap one's.

If the price rise helps improve quality for fixers, then I'm all for it. But I guess the politicians won't be thinking about that. It's just another way to line the pockets of the EU. I guess it's just to help offset the huge deficit of imports/exports between Europe and Asia as a whole.

Nothing at all to do with quality!!

we use 50 million sqm in the uk per year believe it or not so 7% is around 3.5million sq m of tiles:yikes:
