Tile saws

I am thinking of buying a tile saw. Have seen a couple within my budget but not sure which way to jump. Having used a cheap one and got sprayed with water my question is "Do the more expensive ones spray the room too?"
Are the radial tile saws any better? I like the idea of a table on legs but is it worth the extra.
So, I suppose, what I need is the pros and cons of having the disc above or below the tile.

Looking at Norton TT180BM, Axminster, Einhell and Vitrex.

:welcome:Bob - we have a Norton 180 and it does the job. For the price its an excellent machine.
If you get wet using it cover yourself with a black bin bag with a head hole.
Don't worry about the 'bag lady' comments you'll receive from certain 'friends' as it will do the trick.
Mind you when I get rich like others on the forum I'll go for a Dewalt 2400!

i use a little briccolina and a dewalt d24000 BUT i have a hand held dewalt wet saw which is a great little cutter. tradetiler do a makita version

they can be set to a 45 degree angle and with the use of a straight edge, can cover long cuts on tiles over 1 meter long.

you can plunge cut and remove grout on floors with them too. you can pick up dewalt versions on the internet but they will be imports because i dont think they are available in the uk but if you can souce one, they are about £100 cheaper than the makita and they are a great little useful tool to have..

Thanks Lads but though the DEWalt looks good I don't think I can justify the outlay. Need to limit the budget to £150 if poss. Want something that will not break if I use it more than once a month.

I have HOMELUX 900W with 200mm blade and only cost me £79,works fine for me. Although i'm only a part time tiler so may not be robust enough for a full time fixer.

If you are going to stay in the business then buy yourself a decent saw. I bought a Rubi DW250N about 18 months ago (£800 cash) and it has been the nuts! In one week i burnt out 2-£300 wet cutters on 10mm porce' tiles. I've done 30 or 40 Porce' jobs since and some have been real toughies, but still got the original blade it came with. Gonna cost me £125 when it goes, but you want something to last? buy the best!
The TS and TX manual cutters are quality too and are more likely to be only a third more expensive than their cheaper counterparts, but twice the quality. Why scribe 3 times when you can scribe once!

I will admit though that the wheels fell off when pulling it and the inside painted coating of the machine is really starting to fall apart, and the motor sometimes need a smack, and it will soak you and close surrounding area. Poor for inside work.

Plasplugs & Vitrex wetsaws won't spit any water outside of the saw area. The higher wattage ones are capable saws with an uprated blade.
