Hi there

Wondering what would an average tiler earn per day? i.e day rate.

Thanks

Howard

depends what your doing
easy floor tiling or epoxey grouting.
where you live middle of london or out in sticks.
parking ?how far to travel?

From what I have read on here as to what people are happy with earning it's between £60 - £250 per day.

usuallg most will agree 1 doesnt get out bed for less than £100 or mucky the tools. so any were between £120 and £150 myself usually considering there is 2 of us

I price up based on a day rate of £120 - £150 but I never charge by the day - always by the job.

It's like self-flagulation - it makes me work harder and faster!

I would not work for less than £100 per day, by the time your van insurance and public lib insurance, petrol and tax and wear tear on tools and stuff and then when it comes to holiday pay oh and class 2 stamp in the real world that works out at £50 - 60 per day if that and don't forget you have to give 12 months warrenty for your work.

Any tiler should be aiming at £125 - £150 per day or your betting of working for aldi at over £8 per hour.

IF YOUR A QUICK TILER AND GOOD YOU CAN EASY MAKE £600 IN HALF A DAY

EXAMPLE

20 SGM 12" FLOOR TILE DIAMOND PAT £30 PER SQM = £600 LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM OR EVEN KITCHEN FLOOR SHOULD BE NO PROBS AT ALL TILE AND GROUTED.

AND HIS NAME AINT CLARK KENT EITHER

Good tilers in Belfast can ask £180-£200 per day no probs but be careful you could stroke yourself by putting yr gob in gear before yr brain. eg todays work was 35m conservatory at £15p/m =£525 see what i mean. HAPPY DAYS i,m of for a pint of emergency tile adhesive now ! ( thats guiness to you lot )

I take it the intention of the post is to try and get an idea of how much you either should be earning or how much you could expect to earn.

You will find that no 2 tilers charge the same, Some price on a day rate and others price per job.

The thing to do is work out how much you are to work for. If you are happy with 300 a week then charge 100 per day for a 3 day job. I think it would be foolish to expect to get 5 days every week so if you get what you want over 3 days then anything above that is a bonus.

If you then get inundated with work then you can expect to increase your day/job rate.

alright mate don't forget your pension, because class 2 lib gives you a very basic pension, i worked for the goverment in pensions, thats why there is such a thing as stake holder pension which you get tax relief on, but taxed when you claim it. Self employed aint or rosey and cosey.

I have worked for £80 and still do sometimes just to make my money up but what pi**es me off you can get that for stacking shelves.

You are right of course, proper job. What you did omit to mention though was the class 4 NI conts on profits over the lower threshold at 8%. That is the bit that hurts most when combined with your normal tax deduction.

£200 per day to drill holes. Mostly in central London. Sometimes we can get away with £200 + VAT when working with the construction industry.

Price includes congestion charge, transport and is for a full day from 8am until 6pm with a one hour lunch and 2 x 15 min breaks. Includes all consumables.

We dont do half days (IE £125) but we are flexible when its the public or domestic jobs. £200 is a good starting price.

Weekend is £235 for a Saturday. £300 for sunday. £500 for a weekend. £750 per week.

Evening work (6pm until 4am) is £200. Evening work is mostly for commercial jobs like shop fitting, airports, banks, city or anything where the public has access and its a pain to move about.

Make sure if you invoice that you ask the other trades on site if the sub contractor or employer is a good payer. We got burnt once and that one is going through the small claims court.
