Hi All,

I am a newbie and looking for some advise which would be much appreciated.

When on holiday a few weeks ago i bought a set of tiles which are 6 all together. They are about 1m by 1m in size when all together.

I've got an outside wall which i want to put them onto in the garden. The wall is covered in ivy so will have to cut some off to make remove for the tiles.

My only problem is i have no idea on how to fix them to the wall. Can i fix them directly onto the brickwork or should the tiles be fixing to a backboard first? Also what sort of adhesive should i be using as being outdoors it needs to be weather proof?

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Thats great i've just been onto Tile Giant website and have one 8 miles from me.

So just to check when i go into Tile Giant i'll need to by mapei mapeker for fixing the tiles to the wall and ultra colour grout for the grout.

Any advise for doing the job? i'll fix a batten up to support the tiling. Make sure the brickwork is clean and everything is clean well doing the job and fingers crossed the end result will look great.

Thanks

Just to add make sure you get full coverage of adhesive on the back of the tiles...so you get full contact with the wall...

Might be best to draw the size of the tiled area onto the wall and use the flat edge of your trowel to spread adhesive onto the brick work to flatten it out then use the toothed section to back butter the tiles and press onto the wall with a twisting action to ensure a solid fix....wiping any excess adhesive with a sponge as you go...

good luck..

As promised here is a pic of the finished job. For my first attempt ever at tiling i am really pleased with the outcome as i am hopeless at anything D.I.Y so for me this is a result.

Found it hard trying to line up all the tiles as they are handmade / painted so don’t match up exactly. Once all dried i'll remove the batten and hopefully the ivy will start to grow back to make it look more authentic.

Once again thank's for all the help and advise.
