Tiling a ceiling?!?!

as said by alanp of course you can tile a ceiling

there's a few things to take into consideration.
1. the type/size of tile
2. will the ceiling take the weight.
3. mechanical fixings might be needed depending on point no1.

I think it'll look really nice but I just know its going to be a difficult job, the ceiling would have to made stronger I'm almost certain, lovely work btw detroitMi, wish me luck lol

I have tiled a few ceilings in my time, as above if done correctly no probs, did a steam room ceiling in mosaic, my last jotm win.

It also depends on what use the attic etc has, deflection from walking around in an attic above the bathroom will de-bond tiles if the trusses deflect... as said is in the prep but do take other issues into account..

I'd use a gypliner metal framing system to get it dead flat and use marmox boards to tile on, depending on tiles.

Would the best spec be 12mm backer board and a two part adhesive? Or would unskimmed plasterboard anf S1 suffice?
