Tiling On A Sloping Wall/ceiling

I have a shower to tile in a loft conversion - it has plumb walls to half way and then the walls follow the pitch of the roof for the remainder.

I am planning to use Weber.set SPF and their primer PR360 - it's going on backer boards and the tiles are 100 x 300's ceramics.

Does that sound ok? never tiled on a slope before.

Like this?

It should be fine with ceramics

No different to tiling the top of a window reveal.
I always spread the adhesive on the substrate and the tile to ensure a good bond..

Yes, I agree with the above, no surprise there then 😉
The problem I normally fine is the intersection between wall and slope, nearly always not straight or level, be prepared to do a bit of prep

@Andy Allen
I take it Andy u've not tiled that area before?
The slopey bit? Haha I think it's called a mansard, not 100% tho.
When u have a full height tile on main wall and a tile sloping inward like that at an angle, the distance between the bottom left of the wall tile and the top of tile on the mansard, is greater than the height of a full tile.
Therefore the top of the mansard tile falls short of the wall tile.
Clear as mud? Haha
If you're still confused (I know I am!) I'll do a diagram to explain it. 🙂

You've lost me lol.
Ignoring the angled boxing in completely I know none of that will line up its the top cut above the window looks smaller than the top cut on the right hand wall ..

Ahhhhh! Why didn't u say so! Hehe
Don't go away, gimme 10 and I'll show u why! 🙂

Andy, I imagine marc has the same detail on other side of the window, out of pic, and has taken all the tiling from slope up as an independent wall and joined the tile joints across the window head.
If that makes sense 🙂

It dose, yes .....just wondered why cuts were different.
Did you really think I ment the cuts on the boxing in?

Sounds like a good idea Julian, why didn't I think of that? 😉

Because of the extra angle at top Andy, if I had not done the window head with the same joints as the reveals then I'd of had another missing joint against the head of the window.
So I took the whole wall as a separate item.
Compry? 😀

And obviously I reduced the height of the tiles in the reveals so they matched the mansard! 😀
Otherwise they'd of missed there too!

Love it. I have a science degree but love the fact I dont understand this.
As for sloping ceilings, even though I hate "Hardy tile board" I find it the best product when using something as small as mosaics on slopes where you need precision finished edges.
