tiling on to bare brick / breeze block

i'm am about to embark on a kitchen tiling project for a customer, the problem is that there is a brick built u shaped enclosure the houses the aga style range oven, the outside is been kept as bare brick as a feature, but the inside(oven splash back) 3 sides, is to be tiled with 380mm x 250mm tiles. can i tile directly to this surface using bagged adhesive?
i dont have the option of boarding it first as it would be visable from the front pillars?? hope you understand what i mean? :mad2:

As long as the surface is smooth enough to tile on, yes. Might be worthwhile giving them a skim with either rapidset or a proprietory quick set render such as Ardex AM 100. Can be tiled in 2 hrs.

brickwork is ok to fix to direct, if flat enough, but blockwork can move considerably in changing moisture and thermal conditions you may need to skim the block with Mapei Nivoplan (rendering) to stabelise if its light weight block or skim the brickwork with Nivoplan or Keraquick adhesive, if its not flat enough allow to set then fix in the latter.

best of luck what ever your choice of product

just watch for moisture unless the walls are well insulated, i would recommend having plasterboard put up at the clients expense but at best interest, also it gives you a good surface to work with.
