Tiling onto painted plasterboard drywall

Dose scoring into the the surface not weaken the plaster bond?

I have always just keyed the surface up with some 40 or 30 grade aluminum oxide break down the paint and key the surface up, Dust off then prime and then tile.
you are only supposed to score the paint not the plasterboard.

as above

really good sanding down, mechanical key needed and chemical primer/bonding agent too

best of luck

I abrade the surface before scoring the surface just to reduce the chance of any dust etc filling the holes you have just scored and then prime the surface. If the area has previously been tiled it may also be worth considering cutting out and replacing the existing plasterboard.
