Have a job to do where the old kitchen wall tiles have been removed and some of the plaster has come away too. I was thinking the quickest wasy would be to screw 6mm plywood to the wall and tile onto that - nice even surface. What is the best primer to use before tiling? Tiles are just normal 100mm ceramic. Any other preperation required also?

Do you mean rapid set tile addy, instead of drywall addy?

no you dont hes right drew and most tilers will have tile adhesive but not dry wall adhesive
Yes you do.
The rapid set is cement based, so the board has to be sealed with acrylic to reduce any chance of a reaction between that and the gypsum, just like you need to seal the front when you tile with cement based addy.

It is also at least 3 times the price, takes longer to go off, and is harder to use than dri-wall addy is.

I honestly can't see a single benefit from using that over dri-wall.
