i have to tile a patio onto an oversite of concrete. the tiles are 1200 x 600 porcelain, i need to build them up about an inch to get level with inside.
is it possible to lay them on a bed of mortar or do i have to use an adhesive with porcel bond, the latter being expensive because there's about 30m2.
any advise would be appreciated

Biffa - 30sq mts is a fair size patio and to build up 'about an inch' (24mm)is not a lot.
Have you checked for the falls away from the house as you may not have as much to build up as you think!
I would prefer to build up the patio and make sure I use a porcel bond adhesive.
Have fun and I hope the weather stays dry.

got a drain running full length across the house so drainage not a problem.the kitchen is already tiled in these tiles(did it in the winter).
7m of folding glass doors seperating kitchen from patio, they want to open doors in the summer and have it all look as one.
brickbond as well so got to be perfectly flat.
wish me luck, i'll need it, its bound to **** down.

TJ is correct, there needs to be a fall.

I had a similar job recently, but instead of patio it was a pool surround, so the fall had to be away from pool edge to the drain. The fall is hardly noticeable but sufficient.

I formed the base first, then tiled - it is easier than trying to create a fall will adhesive IMO.

I have got to go and do some more tiling at the house soon, so will try and get some pics with the doors folded right back - the brickbond looks the mutts!
