Tiling over emulsion on Shower wall.

I use a belt sander for this Job, you can pick one up for about £50 upwards

use 40 grit as you will be covering it up any way with the tiles

I usually steam it off, it's a bit more friendly to surrounding areas, but would recommend covering the bath as the emulsion sticks everywhere when it drops down.

Thanks for all your replies...

I've purchased a Makita 850watt belt sander and the relevant sanding belts at P40...So fairly corse. I spent about 40mins lastnight giving it a blast and did most of the bathroom. I took it right back to the plaster ready for the tiling primer. This evening, i'm going to wipe down all walls and then start the plumbing of water and waste for all bathroom equip before starting on the floor prep.

A quick question. I've purchased the 6mm thermal insulated backer board for Tile Clearing House. Is it me or does it seem a little flimsy? Sneeze and it'll break in two!

I'll let you know how it all goes.

Chris.
