got a kitchen to do soon in a old house ,took a few tiles off and plaster came off so thought i might tile over top of glazed ceramics as it is just a 4m splash back ,wondering what everyone would use for this(adhesive)and has anyone got a tip for the edge you know cos it will be 2 tiles thick can you get trim that ll work.thanks for any feed back j.

For a better and neater job , get those tiles pulled off and walls patched up , before re-tiling....

It won't look good with a 2 tile thickness on the edges......

yes i said that but just worried its that old horse hair type plaster think its gonna make a right mess.what you think just patch up with rapid set before tiling?

One coat patching plaster is ok and stes qucikly as well...but if you are in a rush then yes use rapidset.....make sure you prime before patching......

It will look much better than having double tile thickness showing.....

cheers dave, one more annoying question for future reference in case of tiling over ceramics ,ive got some bal greenstar in van would this be ok or would you go for whitestar as i know this is better for this type of job.thanks again j.

White star would be OK..not greenstar!!!....when tiling over glazed ( glossy ) tiles you need to use a highly flexible adhesive.......white star is ok for small tiles but if using larger ones then rapidset with Ad1 additive.......

Personally, i'd use neither. White star does the job, but takes ages to set, and is definatly no good on big tiles. I'd use mosaic fix for any tile on tile jobs if i were you. Dont be fooled by the name, its not just for mosaics by any means, its essentially Single Part Flex with a lot more polymer.
