tiling wood floor to concrete

Hi all, i've got a kitchen floor to tile (solid floor boards) but a small section (about 6 foot by 3) has been concreted. i'm screwing 1/2 inch ply on the floor boards and bringing the concrete level with slc but what i need to know is what mesh do i need to put over the join between the 2 substrates? thanks in advance as i'll not be back for a few hours

Youl want to leave a movement joint between the two substrates of about 2-3mm. You can either appy the SLC then run a electric saw down the edge of the wood to make the joint or place something along the edge of the boards before you SLC (Id prod go with the first one of those). Leave this joint clear, dont fill it with anything. Then this movement joint needs to be followed through the tiles, so try and lay your tiles so that a joint falls over this movement joint. This joint will need to be filled with Silicon rather than grout.

thanks for that richard but do i need to put a mesh over the joint (in the flexi addy to strengthen the transition joint?

No, you can leave the joint clear. It wouldnt do any harm to tape it, fill it with Silicon or adhesive but it will be fine without
