hi

thought i'd have a go at this thread seeing as i have been there and now going there again??

bucket trowel
gauging trowel
3mm mosaic trowel
6mm 100% wall trowel
10mm 100% radius floor trowel
5m tape measure
stanley knife
junior hacksaw and mitre block
decent set of general purpose nippers
knee pads
a dry cutter upto 600mm (10mm cutter for porcelain)
a wet cutter (something like a 79 pound plasplugs master tiler to start with)
a wash boy and grouting float and sponges
china markers, and a carpenters pencil
levels minimum boat level, 3ft and 6ft
a 14v cordless drill (for mixing and drilling applications)
gorilla bucket and general purpose water buckets
chalk line
a lump hammer and assorted bolsters
protective glasses and rubber gloves
a selection of drill bits (365 diamond bathroom fitters kit ;0) )
an extension lead
hand saw (for cutting ply)
couple of screw drivers
a marking gauge and blank paper for working out cuts around obstacles
mastic gun, water sprayer, rubber mastic scraper/smoother.

i'll leave it there, hope it helps. i would definately say the above are essentials...

perhaps not quite tools but certainly costs to consider....

- Accountant (or somebody quick at math's to help you out with your tax/vat or whatever applies)
- Business Cards
- Leaflets maybe, if that's your thing.

And at no cost but essential.

- A range of trade accounts untill you've found the right supplier that's giving you a good deal and the relationship is good. (finding the right balance can be hard.)
- A bit of a business / marketing plan.
- Some niche blurb to learn and give the customers when you're measuring up and offering an esimate.
- a listing on websites such as FindTrustedTradesmen.co.uk - Find tilers, plumbers, plasterers, electricians, builders, bathrooms specialists and more. (but never ever pay for this sort of service / listing) there are loads of sites like this popping up now but the ones that charge you don't always provide 'the goods'. FTT has proven time and time again, a good listing will rank for your area.
