Time for you to do a bit of brainstorming, I think.
Take a piece of paper and a pen and write the answers to the following:
- What are you best at (when it comes to tiling)?
- What do you do the most (when it comes to tiling)?
- What do you enjoy the most (when it comes to tiling)?
- What type of jobs would you like to do?
- Where do you live?
- What syntax do other businesses use in their name?
- Do you like any of them?
Etc... Jot down whatever you can come up with. It doesn't have to make sense.
Then you can either try to use what you've written as inspiration, or you can just ignore it, and go for something completely different.
I know what name I will use when I start a business of my own, but I'm not telling
It's mine! However, here follows a rough outline of how I came up with it.
First I asked myself what syntax other businesses use. Over here, it's most often the (sur)name of the owner or the name of the area of operation followed by what they do, like "Peterssons Plattsättning" (plattsättning is Swedish for tiling, if anyone's interested), or "Uppsala Badrumservice"(Badrumservice = Bathroom Service).
That goes for the smaller ones and the mid-sized ones. The larger ones are usually a number random looking letters which are short for something, most often the names of the owners, like "BPAB" or some such.
Then I asked myself what I
can do, what I
want to do, and how I want to work.
Do I want to specialize in simple jobs, or more demanding ones? Will I provide a jack-of-all-trades service, or will I specialize? Will I aim to do jobs quickly, not really caring about the results, or will I aim at top notch every time? Will I provide
standard solutions, or will I do artistic stuff as well? What type of customers will I target? Builders or private persons?
Etc... And then I dumped all of those thoughts and came up with something completely different.
Your turn
I won't give you actual name suggestions, because then it wouldn't be "your" name, would it?
