Travertine issues... guidance needed :(

I have the same problem as Sean, an Italian client who wants 1mm joints, over a 350m2 floor, the stone is going to be running +/-3mm, so the 1mm joint is not going to work, see below the response from the builder. I dont want them sending their own men over from Italy to do the floor, so Im biting the bullet and giving them what they want...what a pain in the butt, this ones going to be.

I’m pretty sure that, with the client being Italian and focused on the stone that they would prefer to see a 1mm joint. What is the cost uplift for water cut precision?

Other points noted but I feel we have to leave this door open otherwise they might chose to go with their own.

Yep they have a point, and more and more are asking for this 1mm joint, they dont want to pay extra, and its the thorn in my side right now. Grhhh

I guess its not too bad if the stone is all the same.

Not like you to have a bad day lynn? (PS cant get that stone anywhere )

I've now finished the 3rd room and they love it. I explained (again) why I wouldn't fix without grout joints and offered them 2mm minimum, they decided to leave it to my best judgement as I know what the finished room will look like.

I breathed a BIG sigh of relief, thanked them for their confidence and will now look forward to finishing the job as planned 🙂
