Travertine issues... guidance needed :(

I am not long back from italy and they do use spaces between tiles. Some older jobs appear to have been butted but, they normaly have bevelled edges which helps to hide and minor discrepancies.

There buildings are constructed differently than most of our dommestic properties (usualy brick and concrete etc)

British Standrard states that 2mm is the absolute smallest that should be used (this would have been researched to decide what is best for our buildings). Some tiles are actualy meant to have bigger gaps according to British Standards!

Just tell them that you are not happy to do this, if you do the tiles may not look good as any differences in size will be evry noticable!

My wife comes from an Italian family, they can be very strong willed and will probs try to get someone else to do it. You just need to decide whether or not you are willing to do this.

Its your call matey, best you can do is advise them of the cons of fixing the tiles this way.

I've now finished the 3rd room and they love it. I explained (again) why I wouldn't fix without grout joints and offered them 2mm minimum, they decided to leave it to my best judgement as I know what the finished room will look like.

I breathed a BIG sigh of relief, thanked them for their confidence and will now look forward to finishing the job as planned 🙂

Sorry mate ,just realised you have got it sorted. Glad they seen sense in listening to you.

You it all goes well mate:thumbsup:
