Advice needed please! I have a customer who has done a brilliant job of plying his kitchen floor with 12mm WBP, screwed at 6" centres. He wants 40x40 honed and filled travertine fixing but I am still concerned about travertine onto ply. I have never fixed travertine onto ply because every time I have faced it, I have recommended using hardibacker rather than ply.
Am I right to be worried? My common sense says that the ply is going to expand and contract and that any movement is going to potentially split the stone along the joints of the ply.
Would you use white 2 part addy or Ditra? The floor is lovely and solid - no problems with bounce.
If I were fixing porcelain floor tiles, I would not be at all concerned but Travertine is so weak....
Thanks!
