treatment of floor after tiles have been removed

i've removed the existing quarry tiles from my kitchen floor which has left patches of adhesive and "holes where the concrete floor has broken away. my question is simple - how do i treat this before laying th enew tiles?

As Martyn has said, any photos? Sounds to me that you will need to give the floor a coat of self levelling screed.

Id go for slc but if the concrete has come away in places id make sure its primed well
