Tubbed Adhesive

Hi,

I am going to be tiling my kitchen v soon with 6mm thick 10 x 10 cm ceramic tiles. I want to use a tubbed adhesive due to doing the job in my limited spare time it will be done over a few days / weeks so dont want to be mixing up and cleaning up everyday. Can anyone suggest the best to use?

That would depend on what is available to you. A good brand would be my choice not something that you get from the DIY sheds though.
You will get this thread spammed with other members sayin how bad tubbed stuff is but as long as its used sensibly then its fine ie, not in showers, not with big tiles, do not bed tiles out etc etc.
I use and have used Biscem tubbed adhesive for many years with no problems. Again as long as its used correctly.

a tubbed adhesive will be fine for your situation, as Sir Ramic says, get a decent brand from a recognised tile shop, the stuff from B&Q type places is just overpriced rubbish

something like bal green/white star or mapei d1 should be fine

Don't use any tubs of all in one adhesive & grout as it's very messy, leaves a gluey residue on the tile surface and creates added work for you - for best results use a quality adhesive and a seperate grout. Speak to your nearest tile retailer to see what is available in your area.

what type of substrate will you be sticking the tiles on to ?

Mapei eco mastic made in their North American Plant but maybe also imported to the U.K. as it is here in the land of Oz. is the best! - no if's buts or maybe's.

The mapei stuff from b and q is ok to use Doug..imo m8.

I've use mapei stick on splash backs and found it sound. As Neale mentioned dont pack out with it though.

On skimmed walls you shouldn't need to but might have to on any window recess.

mapei d1 is the best for the job,
or bal green star if you cant get that,
b&q sell it but its massively overpriced,
try your local tile giant or other tile shop first, thaey'll be cheaper

i stick to bal tubbed adhesive green star or blue star depending on tiles bit more expensive than other tubbed adhesive but in my opinion better quality

hi i would use granfix multi , but then thats all we can get here ,but i do find it very good and at a good price , topps is to over price to use ,lol
