UFH mat to long, what to do?

Guys... I've got the mat all laid down perfectly all need, all edges done, come to the last straight run and estimate that I have 1m of mat left that I dont need and cant work into it anywhere. Any ideas? Can the cable be shortened?

You can't shorten the cable, but you can detach the cable from the mat and run it around the perimeter of the tiled area, if that makes sense.

The only way around it is as stated above. Do not try and cut reg cable and dont overlay it. Do not try and push it up the wall !!! or under the units or bath.

What ever you do make sure its encapsulated in addy of slc. You could speak to the manufacturer and see if they can help. Some can repair kits and some do it FOC so worth a call to see if they could shorten it.

Edit: And yes i have done it but i didnt order it, customer measured the room and ordered one to fit the whole floor, i had 3 sq/mt over!

yeh scotty thats what happened lol. ive picked most of it off the matt and relaying it. hopefully this will sort it.

When I used to flog it I had loads come back due to the customer ordering too much. Not really much you can do once you've started to cut it and tape it to the floor, used to have to tell the customer they can pay to get it re-delivered (and they still can't use it) or they can come and collect it, but it's useless to me if it's been cut I can't re-sell it.

As a result over time we used to try and work out the customers that sounded a little confused and get them to either fax, email or describe over the phone (some funny stories came from this!) their room sizes and we'd work it out, send the gear out, happy days. Still had the odd customer give us wrong sizes, and to be fair had the odd time we gave the wrong combination of kits etc. But we'd swallow the loss on those and usually use the old kits as demo's or even friends / family jobs.

As above though, don't cut the cable, don't hide it and not cover it with SLC. Best thing to do is pull off the last 2m worth of cable and make the loops slightly smaller (not much though!) and then run the left over around the perimeter as said, not crossing wires though.

before when i said 1m, it was more like 4. LOL. I unrolled it out of the front door and down the drive. My heart sunk.

Sorted now though. Finally. Just finished.
