Ultracolour Plus (Beige)

personaly i like to use epoxy grout on all my jobs now but on low spec jobs I stick with benfer grouts and have never had a problem,

ultracolor is ok if mixed, applied and washed of correctly but i only use it to colour match in with kerapoxy.

I would remove the grout and re do it in epoxy

Misses called Mapei today, they mentioned the mixing guidelines have to be followed. They also asked if our tiler had seen it yet (he won't till the weekend) and offered fir one of the Mapei guys to come out and have a look. They also said we could use the mapei fuga fresca to make it all the one colour.

That was good of them.. most manufactures will send a rep out..

Sensible now.. i would let the tiler and the rep see the floor and then take it from there.. Fuga fresca will sort it though,

It just has not been mixed properly getting rep and tiler and talking about it is just wasting time tell the tiler to rake joints and do it properly soon as pos If I was the customer in your position I would be shouting very loud and want it resolved soon as pos talking about it wont fix it!

Just used the fuga fresca on an inconspicuous bit and it didn't help, because the grout is so dark, all it does is take a tiny bit of the edge off of it. Personally, like their grout, that's another useless product.

Sorry but its user or mix (same thing?) at fault here. Im not a lover of this grout as its too grainy for my liking but i do still use it!

The ff would be perfect Dave but not any places (IE TG) stock it. I like smooth grouts like those unless its a floor

I use Mapei coloured grouts all the time, even very small amounts for small mosaics, the black, and the turquise mainly, and because of the small amounts I mix them by hand, sometimes even in a clear plastic beaker. Yes, while you are mixing you can see the different colour pigments, but you have to use,- there is no kinder way of putting it -, common sense, and keep mixing until the colour is completely uniform, and I have not had a single bit of problem with it. Right at the start of my career I got tiny airbubbles showing, and thanks to the advise on this forum I was told that I used to thin a mix, I listened and learned and it all turns out perfectly now. I am looking forward to trying the SuperFine grout soon, too. A bit like cocoa in a cake mix, you have to decide if you want a marble cake or a uniform mix, there is no great science to it but a bit of care. I hope I'm not sounding to harsh here, just in an efficient mood. 🙂
