Mapei’s Ultraflex S2 Quick is a technologically advanced, high performance, highly flexible cementitious adhesive for ceramic tiles and stone material with significant environmental advantages.
“The formulation of Ultraflex S2 Quick, not only offers our customers the high performance they expect from Mapei but also reduces the environmental impact,” said Colin Stanyard, Ceramic Product Manager at Mapei. “As part of Mapei’s drive to deliver continual improvements which reduce the carbon footprint and consequently the effect on the environment in which we all live, Ultraflex S2 Quick has been developed with 20% recycled material.”
Mapei's dedicated research and development team brought further enhancements to the product to ensure performance as well as eco-friendly credentials. Ultraflex S2 Quick also benefits from Mapei’s Ultralite technology. Not only does this result in a creamy adhesive that is effortless to spread, but the lightweight attributes mean that kilogram per kilogram, Ultraflex S2 Quick will cover an area approximately 30% greater than conventional Mapei adhesives. The easy to handle 15kg bag brings health and safety advantages and will still cover the same area as a 20kg bag of standard Mapei adhesive.
Mapei’s Ultralite technology is the ideal complementary choice when lightweight “thin” tiles are specified, thus reducing the total installation weight per m² even further.
This “all round” product boasts further technical characteristics. The material benefits from impact sound deadening attributes, making it the ideal adhesive selection when acoustic systems such as the Mapei Mapefonic system have been installed.
The additional “green”, lightweight and acoustic benefits do not compromise the performance of Ultraflex S2 Quick. The adhesive is classified to BS EN 12004, the Europe wide standard for categorising adhesive performance, as C2FT S2 which translates to a high strength, rapid setting adhesive that has excellent resistance to slip and is highly flexible.
The extremely versatile tile adhesive is perfectly suited to the installation of ceramic and porcelain tiles in interior and exterior locations on both walls and floors. The adhesive can be used for example:
• Over substrates where there is likely to be vibration or deformation such as timber substrates including plywood, chipboard and even existing floorboards.
• Green screeds
• Rapid refurbishment work where “down times” are critical e.g. public areas.
• Installation in areas where there is a large potential thermal gradient e.g. balconies, terraces, glazed atria, facades etc.
• Installation of tiles where impact sound needs to be reduced.
• For bonding tiles to a wide range of conventional substrates such sand:cement and anhydrite screeds including those with hot water piped underfloor heating systems, sand:cement render, concrete and gypsum plaster.
• Installation of tiles over existing tiled floors.
“With all this performance squeezed into one bag and such versatility we recommend fixers pick up a bag to experience the Mapei magic today,” added Colin Stanyard. “This is an innovative product which offers many advantages”.
