i've got a job coming up, a 10m sq kitchen floor on a concrete floor, that requires underfloor heating. have been pricing the UFH at my local topps, they recommend fitting insulation boards on top of the concrete subfloor to prevent heat loss into the concrete, which makes sense.
they look like polystyrene panals about 10mm thick, which should be fixed down with flexible floor adi.
has anybody used these?
i would have thought there would be too much movement just fixed by floor adhesive????

No, they are absolutely fine. Designed for the purpose and there are various different types about. Have a search around the 'net you might find that you can get them cheaper elsewhere. (Wetdecs?)

i had a company called SPEED HEAT on one of my jobs last week, the customer found them on the internet , they were really good they use a 1mm cable, the installers were a good bunch of lads and they were very professional, cost were around £75 per metre for primary heat source supplied and fitted they used ardex na leveling coumpound 10 year guarantee have any of you guys come acroos them

Hi Burncross,

I used these boards on a bathroom project a couple of months ago and they were really good and easy to use.

Very strong once the addy had dried, and were really easy to tile onto. Justy like backer boards TBH

They are worth using, the heat loss through a concrete floor can be a lot.

Floor insulation such as EkoBOARDs & Backerboards should be fixed to a concrete floor using flexible tile adhesive. 1-2mm thin scim , not dot & dab. If installed on timber floor, then fixing screws should also be used.

Once installed, the boards should be left overnight before working on them with either heating or tiles.

We can supply all you need for the job, boards range from 6mm to 60mm.

Regards,

Peter
