did they get rid of you and bring someone cheaper or ask for you to lower the price.
stand your ground ,say we agreed a price , then continue working.

i like the idea of haveing stuff like this in a contract

if you had agreed on doing all the work and booked it in. i would be wanting a payment to make up for lost days work, and i would let them i know this, it totally unacceptable behavior,
