Unhappy with finish of beveled metro tiles and tile trim around window - are we being unreasonable?

Thanks Guys. Really appreciate the input. My husband has tried to call him and resolve amicably but he won't returned the call. Think we'll take the discount and get someone else to tidy up...

It’s not the worst we have seen on here by a very long way, but it’s not great. It’s probably would I would expect to see from Some one who fits kitchens and does tiling. You say he’s stressed up and doesn’t want to come back, has the rest of the job gone smoothly ?
The job has been quick and smooth-ish. The kitchen suppliers needed chasing up on some items which was understandably annoying for him. The rest of the work looks great tbh. Communication hasn't been great and he got huffy when the tiles were later than he wanted them, yet we ordered them as soon as we knew the measurements and at the time he didn't tell us when he'd need them by. They started the work last Saturday (excl Sunday) and were ready to start tiling on Weds which we didn't know until Tuesday when it was too late to speed up the delivery. Think that peed him off.

Your the customer!
Just make sure you get all the altered electrics certified.
Get a tax receipt for what you’ve paid and enough for a days labour for someone to complete.
If you still owe him any keep it all till he replies.

Why don't crossover trades people just say - you know what I don't think I can do that you had better get a tiler/carpenter.plumber - what ever but instead try and take it on themselves - with the results shown which then lets down his otherwise good job on the actual kitchen fit.
No excuse but maybe he had never came across metro tiles before, having looked at his mess I as a DIYer wont be trying to use them any time soon or ever, I can see he has tried to do something with the bevel on the trim to match the tile but it doesn't work. Most trades I have come across start to spit their dummies out if the job takes 2 mins longer than they thought - maybe this is the case here..

The kitchen over all is great but I agree with the comments about crossover traders. The builder did get an electrician and gas engineer to do those bits and I think would have benefitted from doing the same with a tiler. That said, very happy with the tiling everywhere else other than around the two windows.

That’s a lot of chipped cuts and like already been said the grout really highlights every issue.
The trim needs to be re done as it’s not only unsightly but can also be dangerous with protruding sharp edges

You talk about crossover trades and the builder getting electricians and gas in but not a tiler!
They have to be registered to touch those jobs but unfortunately a finishing trade like tiling anyone can do. Apparently !
What makes me wonder is do they have any pride in their hidden work if they leave such a mess in the easy part. A great tradesman should have enough work in his own trade without getting involved in messing up the details that count with the final aesthetics of a design.
Now I’ve seen some excellent bathroom and kitchen fitter one man bands who turn out continuous good standard work - and they are always busy. So for me it’s the pride - and a desire to build a good steady business.

Think ed cut the tiles and trim with his circular saw.

Its not a biggy, but the finer details / finish, is the difference between a Tiler and someone who thinks its easy just to wang a few tiles on the wall..

I was thinking is there a tab for professional wanger if so what colour .

Sorry to say but another case of clients / contractors putting value to Electricians and plumbers while not appreciating the merits of a professional tiler. The guy shouldn’t have had a go by the looks of the finish, but I find it hard to offer too much sympathy. Sorry, just finished a hard days graft offering professional standards
