Time's Ran Out

You talk about crossover trades and the builder getting electricians and gas in but not a tiler!
They have to be registered to touch those jobs but unfortunately a finishing trade like tiling anyone can do. Apparently !
What makes me wonder is do they have any pride in their hidden work if they leave such a mess in the easy part. A great tradesman should have enough work in his own trade without getting involved in messing up the details that count with the final aesthetics of a design.
Now I’ve seen some excellent bathroom and kitchen fitter one man bands who turn out continuous good standard work - and they are always busy. So for me it’s the pride - and a desire to build a good steady business.

Think ed cut the tiles and trim with his circular saw.

Its not a biggy, but the finer details / finish, is the difference between a Tiler and someone who thinks its easy just to wang a few tiles on the wall..
I was thinking is there a tab for professional wanger if so what colour .

AOS TIling

Sorry to say but another case of clients / contractors putting value to Electricians and plumbers while not appreciating the merits of a professional tiler. The guy shouldn’t have had a go by the looks of the finish, but I find it hard to offer too much sympathy. Sorry, just finished a hard days graft offering professional standards

It’s not as good as it should be.
Lack of attention to detail.
But bevelled metro tiles and tile trim, were never a match made in heaven anyway.
But your window could have been done to a higher finish.
I agree, the lack of experience/training with these kind of tiles is showing up on the finer details, needs to be spot on when highlighting with a different coloured grout. Sounds like he realised he couldn't do the window properly and just finished the job and left hoping you wouldn't realise. What he should have done was remove the badly cut tiles and trim and got someone qualified in to finish off the tricky bits.

Have read this thread with interest as I have similar tiles to install at the end of this month (White Metro tiles). There is one window but it has a protruding sill but will be tiled approx 5 tiles up the side of the window. Any tips for the trim? Also 4 x plug sockets - any particular tips (I normally wet cut the tiles but also give a grinder). I also noticed above the cooker some small cuts to the left - not sure if that was avoidable?

The job has been quick and smooth-ish. The kitchen suppliers needed chasing up on some items which was understandably annoying for him. The rest of the work looks great tbh. Communication hasn't been great and he got huffy when the tiles were later than he wanted them, yet we ordered them as soon as we knew the measurements and at the time he didn't tell us when he'd need them by. They started the work last Saturday (excl Sunday) and were ready to start tiling on Weds which we didn't know until Tuesday when it was too late to speed up the delivery. Think that peed him off.
I was told a long time ago, never take your personal issues into the work place!!
