Another good product for this sort of thing is Ardex Feather finish, its consistency is like thick angel delight, it's very easy to flatten and doesn't slump at all.

It takes a while to dry at that thickness though, but it is a very good product.

Quick question, regardless of method, at what points would you SBR prime ie bare chipboard floor, levelled surface before Hardibacker etc?
