Look pj, i'm not gonna get into this with as you obviously know diddly about victorian. My client wanted this design and thats what he got. There are ways round getting over problems in this game and as i said before its down to whoever is doing the job (not you) and how 'I' think it works best. I can open the joint or joints to gain or lose and if that dosen't look or work out right i then overlap.

I've met people like on site and in pubs who can all talk a good game but when it comes down to it your all sh1te. You obviously take your pleasure from knocking peoples work and insulting them to make yourself feel more important than you actually are. There are guys on here that haven't been 'tiling 45years', instead of pointing out faults how about giving positive feedback?? thats what i thought this site was all about, we could all sit back and rip the **** out of peoples work but that won't make us better tilers or nice people.
i was doing this kind of work before you was born son
and your right there i have been tiling 46 years
you'll go far doing work of that quality I'm sure

I think that the joints are tight, it is level and square and the black and white is spot on.
The customer liked it, but the issues brought up here have to do with the border which would be perfect if the red diamonds were to work out properly which they do on all the pictures I saw on the sites I posted.
So the criticism is valid although a bit blunt.
Keep at what you are doing trev and don't let the turkeys get you down.

I never said you were a bad tiler just on the setting out there is room for improvement.

well i believe my setting out is fine, as i've said before, the customer wanted this design thickness of border/pattern and more importantly i think (where all this is steaming from) thickness of black infill. That was my instruction and i followed it.

Pj have you ever thought about going into teaching? I'm sure with all them years you have lots to share. Maybe sort that that 'i've been tiling 46 years!' bollxx and also try and be a bit more understanding of peoples skill levels and how motivate them intead of demorilizing 'em. On second thoughts find that pension book and go grow some spuds!

when i learnt how to tile i was told never to close through a pattern, i think this still stands today hence all the negative feedback .if you had put an extra pencil border around the field tiles this would have gained the module size you needed to eliminate the closing red diamonds, set this half bond and repeat it on the outside of the border and you will have a symmetrical job with out closing the detail of the border

trev !!! your a lucky lad theres skilled tradesmen of many year experience here giving good advice and not bulling you up
if your daft enough to ignore it ,good for you
one day it will cost you dear
as for personal insults to me! seen it all before
its true what they say (you have to pay to learn )
shame really
you made the classic mistake with the border its easy to rectify if you know your maths

Ordinal style will do all the working out for you if you give them the dimensions of the floor they will produce a drawing for you to work from if you use there material that is. There is only one reason for a closure in a border and that is incorrect setting out and that is not a slur on you that is just a fact.
