Hi, yes I am laying the floor myself. Not advised for a novice but the quotes have been very high and we are on a budget!

What field tile / border are you using Shaun? some are easier than others. What area are you?

Hi Phil, it's the large octagons with the small black diamonds, think its the York design and the border is black diamonds. It's the hall which is pretty much just a rectangle 4x1m, I will just need to come out where the stair case finishes.

These floors are expensive due to the time and skill envolved in laying them.These can be tricky to set out, so take plenty of time working where everything will go.
Allow yourself plenty of time, i mean days!.Lay the centre first, and use a long metal or wooden straight edge to work the edge to, allow to dry, then lay the border afterwards, as this will be fiddly.
It's up to you but i wouldn't use rapid setting adhesives, i'm sure the experienced guys here would as they have the confidence to get on with the job. Slow (standard) set adhesive will give you plenty of time to play with, so that you can adjust tiles and i won't go off too quickly in the bucket.
