Hi,

This is my first ever tiling project and would like a little advise.

When you tile the floor and wall, do you tile right up to the very edge or do you leave a gap to grout or Silicon the edges.

Would appreciate any advise.

Thanks

Hello mate and welcome.

It varies but if you was to leave a little gap of about 2mm where all tiles meet (floor meets the walls, bath top, sink splashback, internal corners of the walls, window frame edge etc) then Silicon it all you can't go wrong.

Around the floor line if your on a solid floor you can just cut tight then shove your grout in the gap (if any) but if your on a bouncy surface (wood) then it might be best to Silicon it to ease any expansion or contraction. Remember if your tiling on wood to use flexible adhesive and flexible grout. Also dont worry too much and just enjoy it. If you get any probs as your going let us know and we can help you out.

Are you taking tiling up as a full time job or just doing this one thing? either way it don't matter mate we'll still help you out it's just good to know what your all about

Once you get used to tiling you will soon learn what you can get away with, good luck mate
