The Mapei shower kits with the mapeigum seemed ok to me. Easier to put up as its just brused or rollered on. It does hoever take longer to do as the boards needs priming first then 2 coats so with drying time in between it could take a while.

Morning all,

Quick up date on the project, Plumber was in all day yesterday, poor old boy had a bit of a mare in the end, he needed to -

Plumb in new power shower pipe work, cut and re-plumb new sink and bath waste pipe (was old and furred up), and reposition radiator pipes.
The waste pipe proved a bigger job when he fitted all the new pipe work and there was still a blockage ! (had to cut the pipe and rod it out).
He then put some acid down the sink to try and finish off the blockage in the galvanized pipe work but this took all the chrome off the waste in the sink !! lol
Then to cap it all off he dropped his hammer and smashed our toilet !

(He is a good plumber, just 'one of those days', so he will be back with a new pan for us).

Have decided to have the wall bought to level by plastering it.

Have bought a BAL-WP1 tanking kit, has anyone used this before ? easy to use ??

Will keep this updated with photos as I go so you can all have a butchers.

I have just used the BAL tanking system, ( I usually go for Mapei) but could not source in time. I must admit I was very impressed, with the BAL

I was once told that you can dot and dab hardi backers then secure with fixings into the wall when the adhesive has gone off...

If you use cement backer boards or sand and cement render in the bathroom there is no need for tanking imo.

Hardibacker do not recommend D&D'ing there boards..
