Wet saw plastic or metal construction?

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi,

I am looking at wet saws and only a DIY here but got a few odd shapes to cut. What would people recommend between the cheap plastic type wet cutters like the Mac Allister or a metal based one? Such as Performance Power PTC450E 450W Brushless Electric Tile Cutter 230-240V - https://www.screwfix.com/p/performance-power-ptc450e-450w-brushless-electric-tile-cutter-230-240v/469gt?_requestid=139500

The metal ones have much bigger and thicker blades, the one in Screwfix is also very quiet. The Mac allister type have very small blades and quite noisy.

There seems to be lots of brands with exactly the same design so I guess a lot are rebranded.

Thanks

Nothing wrong with them old plastic wet saw such as plasplugs or similar, especially if your just a DIY as you will never use it again. Tile cutters on the other hand, the cheap ones are useless but again you won't use it again 🙂
