I would cover the whole floor including the tray with the ditra matting then tank the walls using kerdi membrain over lapping onto the ditra then if you want to tile straight away use tile masters 30 leveller and skim over the floor make sure you still have the slopes in the shower area. you should be able to have a guick sandwich and then your ready to tile I would use tilemasters anafix for fixing the matting and tilemasters ultimats for fixing the wall membrain and the tiles job done in a day? don't forget to cover the ditra joins with kerdi 100mm jointing

If ur waterproofing the floor with Ditra u must use 125mm Kerdi Band and use Kerdi Coll to stick it down, that will give u a waterproof seal. Tile adhesive is not good enough. If u haven't used Kerdi Coll before, be aware it sets in no time, it's super rapid!
used it last week in wet room off in10 mins came part of shluters tanking and wet room kit best tanking kit by far

First of all apologies for not been around to offer further input as its been my daughters 9 year old birthday party and I've have had 25 toddlers to deal with.

Initially I was heading towards filling, curing then laying but I am swaying towards maybe the opposite now of filling the cavities and laying in one go as I know there should not be any weakness from the dovetail filling to the contact of the back of the mosaic.

One point of interest is I've just been looking at an off cut of Ditra and when a 50mm mosaic is put on top there will probably be only about 50% true contact of adhesive due to the amount of plastic around the cavities.

I will give Ditra a ring tomorrow and see what there take on filling the cavities first is. I personally still think it wouldn't be an issue in a uncoupling sense but probably more concerned with using a 6mm trowel giving a fine bed of adhesive and only with 50% coverage on a heated screed may be asking to much of the bond.

One other possibility is if there are any other uncoupling membranes which are flat and 100% waterproof.

Cheers for all your thoughts up to know.

Kevin

I have done a few Gary. they where all anhydrite over wet ufh over timber floors.
I just shuttered off the area for the former before the screed was poured, laid ditra to the shuttering then set the former to the level of the ditra. tape up as per and good to go.

I agree , as long as it's tanked , it doesn't matter what's under the Ditra...
