you mix a flexi rapid set (grey) with a flexi standard set (white)? both the same brand,Ultra, I've got a small floor to do for my niece and it'll take two bags of addy. I can get two bags of the same, no problem, I just like to use adhesive up if I can. I've often wondered what would happen if you mixed the two but I've never tried it. Has anyone else?

Have done something similar, mixed a bit of standard set into a rapid mix to increase working time, about 75% rapid / 25% standard, same make addys, this was summer time this year, very hot and the addy was setting as fast as you were mixing it 😀

No problems reported........... yet 😀

Why not give the relevant tech line a ring?

it can very Doug with manufacturer some don't make much difference some will slow it down Feb used to send it off like s**t to a blanket used to use it for screeds down prior to leveling never liked ultra

Hi Doug,

Some of the guys I know on a US forum have told me they do this stuff all the time with no problems. I think the textbook answer from the Tech line at any manufacturer is going to be "don't do it".

I did learn at a trade class I took once long ago that there are something like 10,000 polymers out there on the market for the chemistry geeks to use when formulating mixes for cements and additives. Who knows what the mix will do that you might make?

that'd be too easy Tel, plus you'd probably get the company policy of saying don't do it (so you have to buy some more). As I say, I'm not bothered about buying more addy, it was just one of those sunday morning thoughts that I thought I'd share with the guys:thumbsup:

doug, when I did my hallway floor, I had half a bag of rapid set left over from the kitchen job and I bought a full bag of standard set as I knew I would need more than 1 bag but 2 bags might have been too much. Didn't mix them together though, sorry. :ninja:

have mixed benfer c2 white std set into benferflex rapido spf white at 50/50 to give a longer open time and had no probs

Ive mixed Bal spf with rapidset and it was great, i mixed up a gorrila tub full of the stuff and it work fantastic.

I don't know what would happen, but I imagine there are different "ingredients" in them (Obviously, because they are a different colour :lol🙂 so I don't think I would mix them

Edit: Missed the bit about one being rapid, one standard. I imagine they would have some type of reaction.
