What kitchen floor tile?

I'm considering a honed travertine or crema marfil for our kitchen floor but have heard various stories about both being less than ideal for kitchens and hardwork to keep maintained, particularly the travertine.

My three year old rides a small tricycle around the kitchen, the bike has hard plastic wheels, is the the kind of thing that will wreck the tiles?

Any thoughts appreciated!

You can get Porcelain tiles that have the look of natural stone...and won't need the maintanence that stone can..

Cycling may be a lot of punishment for natural stone, As Dave says

i think I read in an earlier thread that crem marfil had ceased to be quarried from its original site, and the stuff that's now being classed as crema marfil is inferior to te original
