what manual cutter to get

hi grumpy

that brings me on to the next bit...what wet cutter. is a master tiler with a macrist blade good enough. its got a 550w motor i think, and i believe they are very reliable. you could buy nearly 4 of them compared to rubi..what do you think, oh and when do you use a angle grinder??

many thanks

Should be no need for a grinder at all, they are tiles not concrete flags lol

i have just bought the rubi tx 700n and its brill on porcelain...i would get a rubi ts40+ and a tx 700n ...as for wet cutter the rubi d200 is great .. i have used one for many years and no probs..it is fitted with a marcist turbo blade aswell.........dave...

Don't have an angle grinder myself, though maybe I should have one in the arsenal somewhere for emergencies! As for wet cutters, again loads of choice, DH and Gaz@topps have been at it a lot longer than me so their advice is always good. I personally have a Briccolina with diamond blade. Good little cutter and as yet not needed anything bigger but I'm sure the time will come when I have to invest in something a bit bigger. I have cut porcelain floor tiles with it without any problems and the blurb says you can cut granite up to 20mm thick as well. Very portable and quiet.

Here's one Tile Saws. Siri Tile Cutters. Contractors Direct Europe

You get more info from the SIRI site though.

use to have a briccolina wet cutter many years ago and loved it..but got spoilt when used a rubi one once so upgraded to a rubi cutter.....but for the majority of jobs the briccolina or the master tiler will suffice...........dave..

cheers grumpy

hi dave, glad i am at least thinking on the right lines with regards to the cutters. i think i'll get a ts40 to start with and then buy the tx700n when the work requires it. no point in spending until you need hey. i have been put off today with some reports about the rubi tr600s braking ability on porcelain, many thanks

hi gaz, glad you put me straight on the grinder. i have couldnt see why or where you would use one. surely they dont cut as straight or as neat as a wet cutter and the dust??

by the way gaz, do you rate the master tiler cutter (plasplugs).. i have read they are a good motor, v reliable etc. surely 550 watts is enough with a good makrist blade. what do you think mate..

i dont use a wet cutter at all. angle grinder works best for me but its personal preferance same as tile cutters. i wouldnt use anything other than a rubi. got a ts 50 plus and not found anything it wont cut.
