In saying that, youd be good if you finished this job in 2 days. I just cant see it IMO. Theres to many cuts to be done

Not if you cut the arci tight enough, i could slide it in sideways and get a real tight fit. even if it where 1 or 1.5mm, whos going to notice a very small amount of grout like this right at the bottom of the arci.

You have to get adhesive under it, then bed it into the adhesive.. It will drop more than 1mm. Like I said, a small gap. I usually do it this way myself, unless I'm replacing architraves because they're tatty. ;)

I used to play a bit of poker. When I started I would ask the guys how to play properly and there answer seems quite apt on this thread.

they always replied with "you pay to learn" ie quote for how long you think it will take YOU to do the work, add on materials and there you go.

you will then find out any one of the following.
1 you get the job because it has Been underestimated. Job takes longer and you don't make any money.
2 you don't get the job because you overestimated . No work and you need to be quicker/ cheaper to get work.
3 you get the job and it takes less time than you estimated. Fantastic.

either way don't forget the adage. "YOU PAY TO LEARN"

good luck my friend.

You see, this is the thing that i will need to learn because im capable of doing the work. Ill just need more experience to learn how to lay them faster with leaving the same job as i do now. The reason for this thread is that i would hate to over charge these people. The job is 99% already mine and if i was a bad person, i could over charge but im not going to do this. I just wanted to work out what woudl be the going rate for this area. I know that i wouldnt be as quick as a proper tiler but i know i would leave as good as job as one.

Thanks for your reply

Is that what its turned into now lol. Can you not just let yourself give the right advice about this job on how long it could be done in without this carryon

I know some of the lads down in cork time served lads cannot get work. You say your a plaster you should know what to charge for a days work, and if you want to chat pm your number and we can talk about pricing

Yes i know what i can charge for a days rate, but im not going to charge a days rate for the time im there because it might take me 5 days when it'll take a tiler 3 days. Thats why i asked how many days do you think it would take to complete. If you look back, i didnt ask how much to charge a day rate for tiling.

Day and a half and use rapid set grout if using 5mm spacers

I knew some prices of jobs of similar sizes and some where getting quoted for 500/600euro in the boom years. Yes i know that was the boom years but no one is working to near 1 fifth of the boom time money in this climate, not a chance of it!

You asked about time not money, you have me lost now

Yes i did but im now going by boom time prices and in the boom time, tilers where on 120-150 euro a day. Going by 500 divide by 120-150 means that it would take 3 ish days or there about. No chance a tiler would do that area in 1 and half days. Is so, that means theyd be on over 250 a day. No chance!

Mods, i know theres no price talk but to be fair, we are talking about boom time prices and that was a long time ago IMO. I hope this is ok.
