Hi
Further to a couple of my posts yesterday evening.

I'm looking for a professional and reliable tiler in Woodford, Essex. The area is 41 sq m to be tiled in Italian Floor tiles 600 x 600 in a grid formation

Building work has just been finished, The floor has a wet underfloor heating system and has concrete screed over the top. Walls are nearly plastered and the area is a shell, no skirtings, fitting/fixtures etc

Following on from replies I received I will get at three tilers and will ask for references etc.

Can anyone advise me on a rough pricing structure please, do tilers normally charge per day, per job or per sq metre?

and based on info above, can someone give me advise on how many days this job would take, so I can plan the decorator around it?

Thanks
Zoe

hi zoe and welcome to the forum, unfortunately pricing is in a seperate forum and being in essex you probably will be dearer than the rest of the uk,the job however should take 2-3 days depending on the tiler, you will also be able to ask him/her to view there portfolio and that wil give you an idea of there work quality.most good tilers charge by the m2

Could be either per m2 or per day or 1/2 day labour rate, and materials. Best not to focus on the price too much, cheapest isnt always best, neither is most expensive, the quality of work is whats the most important, after what you've probably spent on tiles dont be tempted to go with the cheapest option if your not sure his / her quality will be the best.

theirs a few tile shops around woodford way ask them for a few of the cards and get a few quotes.
if you need the address of the tile shops ill get them for you.

would offer to have a look but got alot of long term work for this year already.

keep the skirting board off till after tiling. so you can hide the movement joint under them when you fit them.

try to find out what the tiles are eg ceramic or porcelain as they may need sealing which will mean it take longer and cost more in materials.

plus how long has the screed been down as it might not be ready for tiling unless their using green screed tile adhesive from bal.
