I've never had a van in my life (although I do now use a big 4x4) but you certainly don't need to worry about looking unprofessional-it's your tiling that matters not the car!
Lots of people use cars so they don't have to buy a second one for family or going out. Can be a pain keeping it clean but much more useful if you can't afford 2 cars.
If you did go for a car just need to make sure back seats fold down and you'll have all the room you need.
I also think my tools were safer in a big boot as no one knew they were there.
Cars are also cheaper! You can get a really nice omega for example for less than you want to spend on a van which for under a grand are normally pretty poor.
Cheers

I was thinking of buying a small ford fiesta van, its the smallest type of van but as there cheap and great for m.p.g i might buy one, only thing puts me off is that they dont carry much weight, if it need to pick up tiles for customer i cant see the van holding much.

What do you think ?

if not am sure a ford escort will do, my budget is under £1000 and i want a van with long mot and under 100,000 miles
