What Trowel?? Grey or white flexi??

Just about to lay 900 x 300 ceramic wall tile to primed plastered walls.

Can I use Dunlop set fast plus one part flexi grey as opposed to white??

What notched trowel am I best using. A floor trowel with curved notches or an ordinary wall trowel??

You don't have to use white adhesive on a wall, only if you have a risk of it showing through the tile or grout. if you keep it clean and your grout joints too, you should be fine. Look at using at least an 8mm trowel, check for coverage and if it is not adequate go bigger.

Thanks for that Grumpy..........Wanted to use the grey simply because on offer at Selco for £8.50.

When you say 8mm trowel is it best to use a trowel with square notches or the trowel with curved ones?? Or don't it matter??

Use the square, don't think you can get rounded 8mm

Agree with Grumpy, BUT be clean with the grey addy and make sure you get any addy off the lines. I personaly use white.

8mm square at the minimum, remember to check coverage on back of tile regularily, if not sufficient coverage then increase notch size
This is providing that the walls are plumb and level ! And they will need to be with those size tiles especially if brick bond !

Totally agree. I used a 12mm trowel on uneven walls back in August.

You can also comb the back of the tile with adhesive to achieve a thicker bed ! Check max recommended bed thickness on adhesive you intend to use.

I guess you have already checked walls with your long level ? So you know what you are letting yourself in for ? Are they to be fixed in brick bond ?

Not doing brick bond. The walls are new and very true. I have just had a look at the Dunlop website....it dosen't mention a maximum bed depth. Given that the walls are true what would you suggest?

Personally would go for a 10mm square notch on tiles that size

Unless using a thickbed adhesive most are suitable for a 6mm bed and maybe 10 mm in located area's.....also a 10mm trowel doesn't mean a 10mm bed....you press the tile into the adhesive bed thus reducing the depth..
