When it’s a sale at Topps Tiles.

On deciding to remodel our bathroom back at the beginning of the year we went to our local Topps Tiles to see if anything took our fancy, we noticed some really nice tiles which were a new line and my partner picked up a brochure found the tiles advertised/displayed and wrote the price down next to it.

When we went back over this weekend the tiles we were originally looked at were on offer at 1/3[SUP]rd[/SUP] off. On thinking Wow that’s amazing offer that we possibly couldn’t overlook we decided to buy some before the offer ended.

However when we returned home we found the original brochure, and the sale price was the exact same price they were, when they first came out, down to the penny....

Just because a shop can hike the price up of an item for a period of 30 days so they can then advertise it has an offer is nothing more then a SCAM!!!

Needless to say we didn’t rush out and buy these tiles at shuch a bargain price.

SHAME ON YOU TOPPS TILES

i have seen that here loads of times.
the normal price is also the sale price.
if you ever know there is a sale coming up in a shop , go in a few times before the sale (2 months out , 1 month out, 2 weeks out etc) and check the price.
you would be amazed at the price hikes before sales so that they can lower them again.
there was a man local here. he was a shrewd man and was watching the prices of a few good he wanted.
he went regularly and got quotes and pictures etc (he had seen the scams too many times ) . he knew the yearly sale was coming up .
he went in to buy the item (tv i think ) . the price was the same as it was 3 months befor ebut they rose the price gradually so that they could lower it again.
he reported them to the agency over that sort of thing (an item has to have a constant price for 30 or 60 days prior to the sale). he won . the word got out and the shop had to close.

Supermarkets have been proven to do the most price-fixing and dodgy pricing tactics. BBC News - Supermarkets misled on discount pricing, says Which?

A lot of the time the 'offers' turn out to be more expensive than the normal sale price.

It's us consumers in general that must be fools though as they wouldn't do it if it didn't work.

I never buy 2 for £2 if the price of 1 is £1.20 for example. Been had with the old beer offers though. I bought 1 case of beers from the normal area of the store for x and found out a day later when the father in law bought some that they had it on a 'deal' in another area near the BBQ stuff for a cheaper price. Bar codes were different on them so I didn't get the offer even at the till.

They know what they're doing that's for sure.
